I need to quit caffeine don't I?

Years ago my mum kept getting heart palpitations and went to doctors and then said she needed to stop having caffeine. She did and now only has de caff stuff. She's been fine since. I've noticed a lot lately I've keep having palpitations. I don't have loads of caffeine I don't drink tea/coffee but I do quite like Pepsi max and probably drink it more than I should.
Today we got subway and I got a cup drink of Pepsi max. I now have palpitations. I feel this is connected and I could have the same thing my mum had.
I'm going to have to cut out caffeine aren't I? Sad

How many a day do you have?

You don't need to cut it right out, just cut down. It's like fags, booze, unhealthy food.

I had to give up caffeine for the exact same reason years ago, even down to dark chocolate and decaf drinks (decaf coffee still contains a hint of caffeine). I was working quite hard back then and drinking far far too much coffee and my tolerance just plummeted. I stopped completely for about 6 years but have recently been slowly reintroducing it, I doubt I'll ever be drinking much coffee again but a cup of tea or a bit of dark chocolate no longer keeps me awake all night with palpitations so I think the answer might just be to cut way back for a while?
