When they've got a tummy bug? DS (11 months) has the most revolting bug (nappies the worst bit but some vomiting as well) and I can't remember from DD, who's 3, what you do.
Do you feed them, not feed them, give them milk, give them water, try to make them eat or drink, give them medicine or what!!
The bug is going round so I know it's nothing serious but I need the collective wisdom of MN.

Make sure they drink lots of water.

Do NOT give them milk until they have been clear of upchucking for at least 24 hours.

Keep lots of towels handy and try to keep smiling

If he wants food give him food, but opt for dry things and no dairy if possible. You really can't starve them when they are that young, and although once the case it is no longer recommended anyway.

It is just a case of waiting it out. If it lasts longer than 5 days go to the doctors but nothing they can really do!

loads of water, if they want milk then half milk, half water.
Dry stuff, toast, crackers etc.
agree with towels and smiles...a must!

tinkerbellhadpiles · 28/03/2007 21:07

The pectin in stewed apples is good for (ahem) consolidating poo. Apparently.

You have my sympathy, when it comes out both ends it's just too much to bear!

elasticbandstand · 28/03/2007 21:10

ooh, yes much sympathy, all that cleaning up afterwards i hate..
how about flat coke?

MerlinsBeard · 28/03/2007 21:11

No dairy, just water to drink to keep them hydrated. Always keep him in trousers to catch any leakage. If he wants to eat then dry toast (is it B.R.A.T for sickness? banana rice and toast?-banana sick NOT nice to clean up i found out last week!)

Keep towels handy and tonight get a chnage of bedding.Pj's nappies etc handy so you can grab them without too much flapping.

Hope he is better soon, DS2 had this last week (hes 2) and DS1 landed it today - joy!
