Removal of ovaries and hrt

I am going in for surgery tomorrow to have my tubes and ovaries removed as my MRI found borderline tumours. I am happy that it is the right surgery to have and I have had to promise my consultant I will take hrt, but I don't actually know what this means. Will I go into the menopause now. Am I going to potentially be a hormonal nightmare?

Has anyone had a similar experience? I am fine with the treatment as my family is complete but I don't know anyone who has had their ovaries removed.

Thanks

I had my ovaries removed last year, it plunged me straight into surgical menopause and it was tough. I have recently started hrt and almost immediately felt more like myself again. I didn't have mood swings, for me the worst symptoms were the brain fog,hot flushes and insomnia. I wish I had been given the hrt immediately, but they were more concerned about the cancer. I take one pill a day, and it really has improved my life. Hope this helps you.
