I've developed a cough over last few days. DP ill too. I have persistent fairly dry cough but after coughing I can hear cracles / pops. Googled it and could be a number of worrying things like cancer. I don't smoke, am. fit and healthy 37 year old. Worried though! Will book quacks tomorrow but am really nervous

Try not to worry before you have to iyswim.

My mum and son ( usually very fit) have respiratory bugs right now. There does seem quite a lot about and if your DH is ill too that's the most likely explanation.

Relax it's bronchialitis

Google anything it will come up with cancer. Sounds like a virel thing. It will get better. My DH had a lingering cough for about 6 months. Resolved on its own.

If it's only been a few days it's most likely to be a virus or bronchitis.

What makes you think cancer? There's loads of more likely things, particularly on the short timescale!

You have a cold! Crackles and pops (ones that cause concern) are only audible via stethoscope.

If you can hear it crackling, it's most likely a viral upper respiratory tract infection. Usually we limiting, just treat the symptoms. Lots of steam, Vicks, decongestant and paracetamol. If it lasts more than a week or becomes painful to breath, see the GP
