Probably silly thing to ask but DS1 aged 15 months has caught some sort of bug from his playmate, he has a runny nose, cough and diarrhea which is fortunately not so bad now, however, i now have the cold and my 5 and a half week old is now starting to cough I had to sleep with him lying upright on me last night as he wasn't comfortable lying flat in basket. DS1 was in hospital for a few days when four weeks old last year with some sort of virus and not an experience i want to go through again..any tips on how to keep my newborn free of our germs? Like i said, probably a silly question but other than cleaning hands constantly, making sure DS1 doesn't cough all over him and all tissues in bin etc.. don't know what else to do as he's still so small.
Is opening the windows a good thing to do too?
Thanks, a very sleep deprived and worried chacha x

Not silly question at all, but I hope the answer doesn't upset you. Breastmilk for the baby and plenty of it. Contains antibodies against infection. If you are not bf, it is possible to relactate ie get it going again, if you are determined and have the right help and support.
