I have a weird ache in my vagina!

WTF?

What have I done?

It's all a bit nebulous & hard to describe so can't imagine telling a doctor about it. All I could do would be to vaguely gesture and say it feels a bit achey around there - followed by vague waving of hand around groin area.

Anyone got any helpful ideas about what this could be? It just feels oddly achy inside and slightly to the side of my vagina. Has been like this on and off for a few days. No sign of infection. Not had sex. No sudden exercise. So what is it?

Achey pelvic floor muscles?

DeathByMascara · 25/07/2017 19:04

I've had this! I ended up with a diagnostic laproscopy to see what was going on and they never got to the bottom of it. But then, it wasn't serious or they'd have found something. Not bothered by it any more!

KickAssAngel · 25/07/2017 21:19

It does feel a bit like achey muscles - but how would I have done that without knowing?

I used to get this sometimes and used to think it was to do with periods and my cycle generally.

tobee · 25/07/2017 21:51

As in the muscles that cause cramping

KickAssAngel · 25/07/2017 23:12

OK - so I haven't had a period in almost 6 months. Hoping I'm not about to suddenly get 6 months' worth of period in one go.

Firstly no one can diagnose you over the internet.

Secondly stop drip feeding - no period due to BC, menopause, pregnancy, other illness?

Also go to the gp and say the last paragraph about being inside to the side.

JaneJeffer · 25/07/2017 23:33

I think this can be referred bowel pain. Try rubbing around your abdomen in an anti-clockwise direction or putting a hot water bottle on it for a while. Have you taken a painkiller?

KickAssAngel · 25/07/2017 23:34

I'm not expecting a diagnosis, I'm hoping for some suggestions that I can have an intelligent thought about. It seems unnecessary to go to the GP about something as minor & nebulous as this. If I get some idea of maybe what it could be, or rule something out, it could make going to the GP (if I feel I need to go) a lot more effective.

I've never experienced anything like this. I suspect it's just one of those phantom things our bodies do to us with no explanation - like Mascara had.

Happy to drip feed as much further info as possible if it starts to become relevant. (btw lack of periods due to menopause. I is old)

Sorry Jane, x-post.

If it were that, then I suppose it would come & go depending on bowel movements. OK - gonna Google. It will tell me I'm dying, or dead, right?

I've had similar before and I'm still here Grin it's an embarrassing place to get a pain and it was very painful!

EllaHen · 25/07/2017 23:40

Not saying I have had this and not saying this has helped but - peppermint tea.

Undoes all manner of crampy, spasmy pain from the tummy to the sphincter to the ... well, vagina.

KickAssAngel · 25/07/2017 23:42

I can make peppermint tea easily. It's more of a weird ache, not even that I'm in pain, but it's just starting to nag at me.

Sorry I was unnecessarily short with you Blush

I'd hazard a guess it's something to do with the menopause and your body having a last hurrah on that front. If it doesnt shift please do see your gp though. Random pelvic pains lead to a late stage cancer diagnosis for me so I'm a bit overly cautious...

ThinkOfTheHorses · 26/07/2017 02:09

When you stand straight does it feel like a string is taut between your belly button and vagina? If so it's a UTI
Otherwise sounds like you're getting a period

ThinkOfTheHorses · 26/07/2017 02:11

Try drinking a shit tonne of cranberry juice and see if it helps

KickAssAngel · 26/07/2017 02:46

enchanted - so sorry to hear that. If it does persist I'll follow it up, but currently really not sure if there's anything worth bothering a doctor about.

Don't think it's a UTI - no other symptoms. I drink quite a lot of cranberry juice & water anyway.

I should have added I'm all good now - just paranoid!

JaneJeffer · 27/07/2017 12:52

Hope you're feeling better Kick.
