Hi,hopefully someone is also up...

I am going to ring the GP at 8, but we've all had a vomitting bug over the weekend and now DS four months has it.

He is fully bf, should I be feeding him when he asks for it?

Thx

I would, at least he'll keep re-hydrated that way. If you the slighted bit concerned about him, ring NHS24. Sorry I can't be much help, but thought some moral support wouldn't go amiss.

Yes, keep BF on demand. That was always the advice of our pediatrician - even if it comes back up, feed him when he asks. BM is apparently the easiest thing for a baby's tummy to digest.

Hope you all feel better soon

Thx, appreciated. I rang up NHSDirect about my other DS (2.10) on Friday and did get conflicting advice from them on whether to give him fluids.

DS2 has just had a small feed so we'll see what happens next...

Thx again,

Yes feed him - it contains vital fluids and antibodies against the bug. Yes it will probably all come back up again, but hopefully it will start to work it's magic first.

Never a good idea to starve a bug out of such a young child they can go downhill so quickly. The advice for a nearly 3 year old would be the same if they were breastfed.

He's kept it in so far. I am holding him upright and he's sleeping.

I only had it Sat night, and apart from feeling tired yesterday and sleeping heaps I think I am over it.

Hopefully I'll have some good stuff in my milk for him!

Thx,
