Experiences after coming off the pill - specifically Yasmin

I've been on some sort of contraceptive pill for about 15years with some breaks in between
I had a year and a half break each around the time of my 2 DC (youngest is 1 so a fairly recent break) and a 2 year break a few years ago.
I have taken a few different brands in that time but the current one is Yasmin as I used to suffer with acne.
I'm in a position where I don't need to take it at the moment and I'm thinking of coming off it but I've heard a few horror stories from friends about symptoms after stopping Yasmin.
Just wanted to see what others experiences were and if there was any advice for counteracting any problems.

My friend said she had terrible water retention and noticed a bit of hair loss when she stopped - are there any vitamins that would help with either?

I came off Yasmin and can't say I really noticed any major side effects (other than some mild headaches in the first week) but then we were TTC and within a month I was pregnant so had a lot of changes but they were probably more pregnancy than Yasmin!

Thanks Both, I have stopped it, my mood is very up and down at the moment, feeling very low and teary today but I am often like that a few days before a period
Think I'm mostly worried about the hair loss as my hair is thin anyway

The hair loss is my main worry too. My hair is really thin, which I think is due to taking Yasmin anyway. Terrified of losing even more!!

I came off Yasmin and didn't notice any side effects at all.

Hi Shinesun. How are you getting on now? I'm on my pill break at the mo and contemplating not starting a new pack and seeing how I get on. I'd be interested to hear an update.

I came off Yasmin a few years ago after being on it for years and years with a few breaks now and then. Came off as TTC but I was worried about skin and hair as have pcos and skin a particular concern. My mood swings were worse on it to be honest. I fell pregnant quite quickly which has changed my skin it's now much better post pregnancy so I can't comment on that but didn't notice worse moods or worse hair loss/ growth where didn't want it!
