Tried NHS Direct but they are busy!
Does is mean a trip to hospital?
Stupid question but, I have no transport or any way of getting there do I phone 999?

Nutty- yes have a little money on me. Will see what Dr says when he/she phones. Then ask neighbour.

LilRed, our posts crossed, I wasn't in anyway having a go at you

fwiw though tortoise, personally I'd feel happier with the x-ray rather than your dd having a hellish sleepless night. Broken arms can be very painful, depending on the break, if its a break.......

frumpygrumpy · 24/03/2007 17:41

good luck with it, will pop in later to see how things go

tortoise · 24/03/2007 17:42

Thanks everyone.
I would be at A&E by now if i could drive.
She is ok though unless she moves. It seems to be the elbow area. Is quite hot to touch.

I know that FG I wasn't having a go back. As you said, crossed posts

I just thought the out of hours surgery must deal with predicament the whole time and may be able to get a non-emergency transport out to Tortoise.

frumpygrumpy · 24/03/2007 17:47

I hate the way the NHS leave a big hole into which situations like this fall. They move all the little places into one giant one and those far away suffer. Far better to have a few satellite surgeries that could help out.

LilRedWG · 24/03/2007 17:50

Totally agree. Luckily we have a Minor Injuries Unit, which is open six days a week and only a ten minute walk away, but as I said - we are lucky!

talcyone · 24/03/2007 17:51

Hope she is ok tortoise
and you manage to get to hospital

tortoise · 24/03/2007 17:54

Dr said A&E. if no neighbour then i can call 999.

OP posts:
frumpygrumpy · 24/03/2007 17:55

tortoise · 24/03/2007 17:56

Sort of.. Going to try a friend from up the road 1st see if she can help. Will have to take DD2 with me too!

How much would a taxi there and back be? If you've got the money for now, I would chuck it in the post to you on Monday. Seriously, I'm not kidding. I hate seeing people stuck.

tortoise · 24/03/2007 18:00

Friend on her way. She has to work later so cant stay. Guess they can arrange transport home. Will report back later...

LilRedWG · 24/03/2007 22:04

Just logged back on for an update - hope everything is okay.

tortoise · 24/03/2007 22:04

Hi.
We are home at last! Xray was clear so no break.
Its still very painful though and she is not really moving her arm. Should improve in a few days.
Friend gave me a lift home after she finished work at 9. The hospital tried to arrange a taxi but none would take children without car seats! One firm had just one seat!

The girls had some jelly each while we waited so they were happy!

Thanks for all your help.
Think I'm in for a long night!!

LilRedWG · 24/03/2007 22:06

Tortoise - glad there's no break and that you were able to sort transport. Take care of yourself and let us know how DD gets on. I presume they've given her some painkillers.

tortoise · 24/03/2007 22:09

I was just told calpol/nurofen. She had calpol before we went out so probably due some more now.

Same thing happened with my DD she was only one and fell awkwardly on it. Nothing came up on x ray but was a week before she would use it. Hope she feels better soon.

glassslipper · 24/03/2007 22:15

poor little mite....hope she feels a bit better in the morning.

tortoise · 24/03/2007 22:17

A week! I hope its not that long!! She can't walk because her arm hurts!! (so she says!)
