dd has just fallen on her hand and is holding her thumb awkwardly. We have got her to bend it and use it slightly but it is awfully swollen and 'bumpy' between the hand and joint part ... does anyone think it may be broken or just sprained??

... she cried/screamed for AGES - which is unlike her too

any help welcome
TIA

Might be worth getting the ligaments checked out.

I would personally take her to a&e, if it is broken or dislocated it may need re-setting.

Hope the poor mite is ok.

thanks
yes - this is what I am thinking ... she seems ok now though and I have got her threading pasta over string to get her using it.

(She is 2.9 btw)

you might want to watch her for a bit - sounds like you are anyway, but my mum managed to ski for most of a week with knackered ligaments. (she knew about it, but didn't want it put in plaster while we were there, cos then she couldn't have skied!). Which is all to say, that I think you can still use your hand even if you have done some damage.
