Is it possible that the recommended amount of sleep is too much for me?

I've been struggling with overwhelming tiredness for quite a while now. I've noticed though that the more I sleep the more tired I seem to be. Last night I had about 5.5 hours sleep and I'm feeling more energetic than I have in ages. This isn't the first time it's happened either.
Is it possible that the recommended 8 hours sleep isn't good for everybody? Thanks!

Possibly. Although when I do that amount of sleep I buzz and then it catches up a few days later! If you are suddenly very tired you should go for a blood test, I had that for a long time and turned out my thyroid was slacking!
