Ovarian Cyst help and pelvic pain?

hello, not too sure if I am on the right page, but if I am not please I am more than happy to move to another section if best.

I am 42, and something has changed in my monthly cycle well more like things have changed in terms of bleeds and pain. I have been on the mini progesterone only pill for about 20 years and no problems whatsoever , I have always had no issues.

I was diagnosed with an ovarian cyst on my right ovary which was 3.2cm and only small/functional I am told. I havent really had any periods for the last 3 months but period pain is there just nothing, mind you I know the pill can do this but its a first for me, normally i have a period for at least one day.

Besides this cyst, I have a rather sharp, constant dull ache on my left abdomen right below my hip bone near my pelvic area and when I go to the toilet (sorry detailed here) it hurts afterwards if I am straining or been pooping a lot. I am not sure if its linked or not but its there for sure.

I had an UTI back in march, which was aching back and lower cramp but that cleared up in April.

So not sure what to do really as doctors are saying sit and wait to see if the cyst goes away and it should have after 3 months, they are not treating this as serious but its weird how my left pelvic area or lower left side under hip is a dull ache.....its very annoying, its not horrific that I cant work or do anything its just there if that makes sense.....but why on the left if cyst on the right?

has anyone had anything like this before?

thank you for reading....xx

You can get referred pain. I had endo cyst on left but lots of pain on right. Weird.

thank you, did you get any other symptoms at all and did you have this for long before you had anything done. I have had this since March this year, its worse more so the week before my period did you have the same? sorry so many questions, just trying to get some thoughts together!!

Yours is a functional cyst so completely different to a chocolate cyst caused by endometriosis so guessing our symptoms won't be the same. Can you ask for another ultrasound if it doesn't get better soon? I think certain cysts over certain measurements will be operated on but I believe functional cysts do go away on their own.

I had all this exactly as you describe. Had scans etc and then couldn't find anything much gynaecological really. Finally I was given a kidney scan as a last resort and there it was - a large kidney stone

So just bear this in mind as a possibility. I didn't even consider it as was so focused on it being ovarian pain etc

Hi there, its definitely not a kidney stone as during the ultra sound it was a cyst which was found. I don't have any cloudy urine and just had urine test and no blood in urine or any other pains just this lower left which is more a week before my cycle starts...noticed it goes away more when water is consumed, the more the better!! so just drinking loads at the moment...which means thousands of trips to the loo lol!!

I think like you mentioned niqnet1 I will request another ultrasound to see whats going on, my last one was end of May so not long ago.....but thank you everyone xx
