I'm in a lot of pain which is getting worse daily. I had a composite filling a year ago which has never settled down. The tooth was pain free before and not sensitive, the dentist just said he saw a bit of decay so I trusted him and let him fill it. Really wish I hadn't.
He re-did it a few months later and nothing much changed. Sharp momentary pain after hot or cold. I had a checkup a few weeks ago, was a temp dentist as original one has left. She put a sealant on a few teeth to try and protect from the hot/cold but things have got gradually worse since then.
I had lingering pain after hot and cold at first and an ache in my jaw. I am now at the stage where the tooth ache is spontaneous and verging on agonising and the times that it comes are getting closer together. It goes all along my jaw. Sipping water seems to help. Paracetamol is doing nothing but ibuprofen is helping a bit.
I have a new patient appointment at a recommended dentist as I have lost trust in my current practice. The new place said they can't see me till the 13th when I rang to ask to transfer but I can't last till then.
I think the pulp is probably inflamed and dying and I'll need a root canal. But how do I approach it? Call my dentist practice tomorrow, even though I don't trust them and think they caused the problem in the first place by drilling what could have been a healthy tooth and ask to see another dentist there competent in root canal? The tooth can't come out as it's near the front.
