Honestly it's not that bad. The local is squirted on. I had a cs. I'm on my second and had the local squirted on and literally never felt a thing when they took the old one out and put the new in. You'll be fine and if you have a mirena coil you may even get the added benefit of no periods, now thats got to be worth a few uncomfortable minutes.

Absolutely Fyrball a little discomfort for months and months of no periods - it great.

My local was injected and the injection honestly didn't hurt, hardly felt it at all.

lisalisa, I can't see how having a diaphragm would be any less painful (and it really isn't that long, honest!), as it still has to be inserted... I'd go for it, but take a strong painkiller first.

McCadburysDreamyegg · 24/03/2007 18:24

a diaphragm is dome shaped and fits over the cervix rather than into the cervix so it shouldn't be painful at all. Not sure what it's success rate is though, I'm guessing probably not as reliable as the coil but I don't know.

86 -94% effective apparently

oh I see. Shows how much I know!! Still 86% isn't any more effective than a condom...
