Help! Hearing loss and deafening tinnitus in one ear

On holiday. Saw a doctor who diagnosed an ear infection and gave me antibiotics but he couldn't explain why I'd had muffled hearing on and off for a couple of months.

It's the worst it has ever been now: noticeable hearing loss, loud hum, ringing, echo, sound reverberates. No pain or discharge.

I'm not back home until the weekend. From what I've read online (I know) I'm worried about permanently losing my hearing. I've had ear infections before and they've never been like this. I read that you should urgently take steroids for sudden hearing loss (and that most ear infections are viral).

What should I do? See another doctor for a second opinion? Try to get a telephone appointment with my GP at home? Stop worrying and hope I don't go deaf?

(If this sounds familiar: I posted a thread last week asking if I should go to doctor about my muffed hearing).

Thanks for any advice. So worried Sad

See a second Dr and make an appointment with your home GP ASAP.

I lost my hearing in one eat from a viral ear infection when I was a teen, if there is anything you can do to potentially minimise it do.

Thank you mouse and Flowers
