my 6 month old dd is constantly snuffly, makes very loud nasal noises when feeding and quite often needs to mouth breath. When she is asleep she always snores, she seems well otherwise, should I be worried ?

I would suggest to talk to your GP about your concerns. DS made some loud noises when feeding, snored like darth vader and had always a stuffed nose.

Turned out he had a couple of things causing the problems, so a visit to the GP may help sort the problem or at least to reasure you that everything is OK.

Thankyou Chandra,Can I ask what were his problems ?

DS has a smaller-in-the-inside nostril, which combined with milk allergy (that makes him snotty) was causing part of the problem.

The Darth Vader breathing was due Laringomalacia but I believe this condition is mostly outgrown by children during the first few months of their life. So no need to worry much about this (or any of the other things, as all the babies are different and there might be plenty of different causes for the same symptoms).

my daughter had this at 3 months - is now 5 months. turns out she had small nasal passages and slightly infected nostrils despite no evidence of a cold. Got prescribed bactroban - nasal ointment with antibiotic in it. Better the next day. HTH

Thankyou, dd is due her next injection soon, I will ask my GP. She spent 4 days in scbu when she was born and pulled out her NG tube, 4 Drs tried unsuccessfully to replace it. I also believe she has some kind of milk intolerance.
