Asthma/hay fever question need a quiick reply pls.

Ds is 10 and suffers from really bad hay fever. Had a call from school to say that he had 2 puffs of ventilin but said he needed more. They gave him another which seemed to work. He has PE this afternoon would it be unreasonable to ask that he is kept in. Worried that should really have any more ventolin until 3. Please help me decide.

Can you go and get him from school & bring him home?
Definitely no PE. I would suggest he could use an asthma review with either a nurse specialist (if you have access to one) or a GP. I would suggest he could do with using his preventer more / a different preventer.
Please don't gamble that he will be ok to do PE, asthma is often underestimated in severity

Trust your judgement on this. You know your DS and missing PE sounds the right thing to do.

Thanks so much for quick replies. Find it hard as I am a big worrier but will ask for him to stay in as it's not worth risk.

I'm a worrier too, and from time to time regret not speaking up for myself or what I felt was right.

He can have as much ventolin as he needs (he might feel shaky and have an increased heart rate with lots but he can have it). However, if he needs lots/more than usual then he needs to see someone. Definitely normal to worry though! Hope things are settled for him by now.

Is he using the brown preventer inhaler ? I've found that now I use this daily I rarely/never need the blue Ventolin
