Not for faint hearted abscess hole pics

I had a huge boil/abscess come up on my leg last Saturday, I'm prone to then under my arms and on my inner thigh. Anyway this was big and sore, it burst and left a hole. I didn't feel unwell and have been cleaning the wound and changing dressings twice a day.

I have severe health anxiety and am convinced this is an infected wound. If it about the size of a 5p piece in diameter, and looks like something from a zombie film, I can see into my leg! I am going to get it checked on Monday, I probably need antibiotics, but feel totally fine and don't feel like it's getting worse, hubby said it will take weeks to heal its normal. I just want to know if this looks infected to anyone? The redness around it has been there since the boil and is reducing by the day. I'm such a baby it's just so vile to look at x it burst on Thursday morning.

I would go to a local walk in centre if you can.

roseanya · 24/06/2017 15:34

Any nurses opinions would really help.

Doesn't look horrific. Not red or anything.

If it gets red, hot and painful it's almost certainly infected.

Keep it clean and covered until Monday.

roseanya · 24/06/2017 15:37

It's not hot red or painful.

Wound assessment via a chat forum isn't really ethical or professional, rose. Pop to a walk in if you are able, any assessment should be done in person.

roseanya · 24/06/2017 15:39

I do appreciate that, just that I cannot make logical decisions as I suffer from awful health anxiety so wanted opinions is all. I can take it down if it offends, apologies

The condition of the surrounding skin looks worrying, however the hole itself looks ok, if it's painful or becomes red you nee to see a hcp, and I say that as a nurse.

KingJoffreysRestingCuntface · 24/06/2017 15:41

If you pop over to Sporner's Corner with that picture you'd be crowned Queen.

But it's not offensive, don't worry.

Quartz2208 · 24/06/2017 15:44

I don't suffer from health anxiety and I would go to a walk in centre to get it checkedout

NomDePlumeReloaded · 24/06/2017 15:45

It's not a case of causing offence Smile. You don't know anyone's professional background on here, people could claim to be all kinds of things and give all manner of 'advice', you have no way of checking their credentials. You are trusting the words of a stranger on the internet.

pieceofpurplesky · 24/06/2017 15:46

Go to a walk in centre if you can and get on antibiotics.

MrsMozart · 24/06/2017 15:48

I too would suggest walk-in centre as you might need antibiotics.

roseanya · 24/06/2017 15:59

Okay thanks guys I will go to a walk in centre

Supermagicsmile · 24/06/2017 16:01

Agree with above.

RaspberryBeretHoopla · 24/06/2017 16:04

I don't have health anxiety either and I would go to a walk in clinic with that. Good luck, OP.

roseanya · 24/06/2017 16:14

I think people may have misunderstood- I wasn't saying I have health anxiety so don't think it needs looking at, I was saying I think bad things all time but could it wait until Monday as it's not been causing me any problems (smell, pain, heat etc) and I am working myself into a tizzy.

I am heading to the walk in centre now so hopefully it will be okay :-( x

Thanks everyone. I'll let you know how it goes, sorry if I have put anyone off their dinner x

Good luck. As a sporner, I can assure you that it is a thing of beauty. Worth at least a million YouTube hits!

flumpybear · 24/06/2017 16:35

Was going to suggest the same as others and go along to walk in centre - hope it's ok

roseanya · 24/06/2017 17:12

At the walk in, it's packed with sick children and people who look like they are really suffering, I feel so guilty that I just want to get seen and get home for a glass of wine and Saturday night TV 😐 better safe than sorry though! They will hopefully be able to give me some antibiotics if needed and dressing advice

Haha I love that some people love looking at this stuff 😂

Have u got another pic

Flisspaps · 24/06/2017 17:34

Get your t looked at BEFORE it gets to the point of you looking/feeling really sick!

roseanya · 24/06/2017 17:42

I am, still waiting to be seen at the moment. Loads more pics but not sure people would appreciate them!!!

OP posts:
HopeYourCakeIsShit · 24/06/2017 17:45

Hope you get seen soon. It looks bloody painful, I'm glad you decided to get someone to look at it properly.

roseanya · 24/06/2017 17:48

Thanks :-) honestly it's not painful at all now it's drained, it was painful when there was pressure but not now. Hopefully won't be here for much longer I hope, although it's the worst time to try and be seen.
