Rebound headaches following a lot of painkillers?

I have had some sort of viral infection for the last three weeks, involving me taking paracetamol and ibuprofen back to back for a week, then day nurse/ night nurse, then just paracetamol. I stopped taking anything about two or three days ago, but now have a headache that. Is persisting. I have taken paracetamol this afternoon to try and shift it, but it hasn't gone.

Could it be some sort of rebound pain?

Could be. I can't take anything codeine based as this will set my headaches off. But I'm OK with paracetamol and ibuprofen.

Yes It can happen
Best to reduce slowly

Thank you. Part of me thinks that I am far enough through to sit out the headache now, but I will definitely bear in mind for any other time.
