Apparently I did, when I was 16/17 and again when I was 24/25, except they didn't tell me the second time and I only found out last year when I had to get my medical records.

Epstein Barr virus can do all sorts of damage. Not surprising that I now have an underactive thyroid.

I had it at 18 and was really ill
I'm now about 7 weeks into a red sore throat and exhaustion
I'm not as bad as I was at 18 but I'm on antibiotics and that are doing nothing
I've got to go back next week if no better
My throat is red raw :(

I got something like it, undiagnosed, when I was 20. It came back fairky regularly. I now have ME.

Badders123 · 07/06/2017 17:20

Three times Blush all diagnosed via lab. Had it when I was 18, 24 and then again at 37 and that last time was just awful. Hope you get feeling better soon OP Flowers Brew

My dsis had glandular fever as a teenager and has since been plagued by sore throats, glands and tonsils but has never been diagnosed again. She's over 50 now. I think she's just susceptible to throat things. Which might be the same for you.

ScarletForYa · 07/06/2017 18:59

Yep, that's what they said. Late teens early twenties, I think swabs were done.

lizzyj4 · 07/06/2017 19:03

I've had it twice, once when 18 (just before A'level exams, lovely) and once in my early 30s. I've had something v.similar a couple more times, but not sure if it was that for certain as not tested. It really knocked me for a six each time, completely exhausted for weeks afterwards.

That's when I got it at 18...just before a levels

Yes, first time when I was 19, then again at 33, with various bouts of tonsillitis between and since.

Did ant of you end up with a tonsilectomy?
Dr says if no better she is referring me to ENT
