Anyone had uterine polyps removed-what were periods like after?

Last week I had a hysteroscopy and polyps removed, under a local.
During the pre-admin check the week before, I asked the gynaecologist if my very heavy periods would ease off after the polyps are removed but he said no, I would need a mirena coil to do that and he could fit one at the time of op.
I declined as I'm not sure if I can put up with the side effects of the coil.
However, after I had the op, the other surgeon who was performing the op came over to me on the ward and said 'we've removed a few polyps and shaved off some 'polypy' areas and that'll make your periods much lighter!'
I'm confused now and obviously won't know till my period comes in a couple of weeks but wonder if anyone else has had this procedure and did it help lighten your periods?
