My baby's strange scar/birth mark - what is it?

My daughter is now 5 months old but she was born with an odd scar on her arm. It's obviously not a scar in the sense that it's been there since birth so it's not a healed cut or anything. But it looks like a scar - a raised, white, bumpy line about an inch long. The odd thing is it sometimes disappears but when she flexes her arm or is cold it slowly appears, stays for a minute or two then disappears.

It's very difficult to show it to anyone as it's not always there. I've tried to take a photo but have not been able to catch it. Weird. Anyone know?

My DD was born with something similar on her skull, again it looked like a scar, almost like somebody had gouged out a 2cm length of skin. The scar was white and sort of indented if that makes sense? It was checked out by the paediatcrian but they didn't know what it was. It has never caused her any problems HTH.

thanks hennipenni - sounds like it's just one of those things. I'm kind of hoping it will stay the same size so that as she grows it will become a smaller proportion of her arm but we will see.
