I have a 2 week old baby and everybody in the house has gone down with colds.

She has been sneezing since she was born so Im not too worried about that but the last 2 days shes developed a cough now and again.

Has anybody got some advice? Thanks

is she feeding okay? dd got a cold when she was a newborn and the blocked nose affected her BFing so we had to run the shower, make the bathroom all steamy and try to relieve it that way. i don't remember her coughing, though, so hopefully someone will be along soon about that.

Shes feeding the same as normal and doesnt seem to have any other symptoms of a cold apart from the cough.

Try and see a GP today or would it be okay to wait till morning? Maybe I should call NHS Direct and see what they say?

it won't do any harm to call them, i suppose. i was told that the rule is if they're under six months it's always better to get them checked out by a doc.

agree with Kerrymum...a cold in a teeny baby can develop quickly into something worse.....bronciolitis....which can be serious..better safe than sorry with a 2 week old baby.....

Well we called the NHS Direct line and they gave us advice...mostly what we was already doing. We just have to wait and see if her cough gets any worse now...then we consult the GP.

Yes get her to doctors. when my bub caught a cold the doctors told me that newborns dont know how to breathe through their mouths. Mine had to go into hospital and have that suction thing to clear her passage ways
