Colonoscopy and change of habit

usually my bowel movements for ever have been random times and days and a little on the hard side. but for last 3 months it has changed suddenly to every day same time each morning give it take so i tell my doctor and she is unconcerned but it continues and now having 2 tone movements in one go like darker one half and very light and softer the other, sorry for tmi but this happened again this morning and i was crying and shaking.
so i had a telephone appt with a gastroenterologist this evening and he agreed after i explained it was a change of bowel habit and altho my fear is unlikely it would be a good idea to do a colonoscopy so going to get one as it's just on my mind and been like it for 3 months now xx i know i'm a disappointment getting it done and i don't relish the thought/ but i said to him; if a patient came to u with these symptoms would u do a colonoscopy and he said yes. He said he even had one himself last year and he's he same age as me! although i'm
now panicking that it's been 3 months and nothing has been done if it is something !! My doctor was adamant i didn't need one but he is a specialist and i wonder if she said no because of my anxiety but surely that's not a reason? x symptoms for 3 months, from random days and time to every day around same time in morning and looser (not diarrhoea) lighter even 2 tone in some movements, dark and really light which has also really freaked me out !! colonoscopy booked for 1st june and already in a complete panic about the results as even tho may seem like vague changes it's a change for me and wondered if anyone else had had this happen to them. Why did GP say no to colonoscopy but specialist agree? feeling very scared, i am 43. thank you for reading. i do suffer from health anxiety and reassurance is meant to be a no no but asking ladies of same age and if they have had his experience just to calm
me down . x

I had a colonoscopy when I was 23.

Has your diet changed at att?

MissBax · 27/05/2017 08:14

Relax. A change in bowel movements isn't reason enough to do one. That's probably why your GP is reluctant. It sounds like your new bowel habits are much healthier than before so might be why they're unconcerned. Either way, you're having one soon anyway so just relax till then :)

no change in diet but stools are softer and undigested food , even from the night before, could this be because i'm now anxious maybe? x

I think your anxiety in general is the problem not your bowel movements. Try to relax, you are getting the colonoscopy so if there is a problem they'll find it and sort it.

is it normal tho to have a lot of undigested food in bowel movement from the night before?

Sweet corn is renowned for it I believe. It's try not to think about it op, if you get the answer to one question then I'm sure you'll think of another one soon enough. Do not google and try to take your mind off of it.
