Is it normal for pms to get worse in your 40's?

I'm 44 and up till 5 or so years ago I'd never really suffered from any kind of pms.
But now I dread my periods for all kinds of reasons.
About a week before I feel really anxious and panicky, bloated, tender boobs, achy all over, headaches, exhausted, my ibs is much, much worse and Im really grumpy.
Basically, I feel like shit.
I'm not on any kind of hormonal contraceptives, so is this to be expected at my age, I'm wondering if it's peri menopausal symptoms?
Please tell me I'm not the only one out there feeling like this?!
