DS (2) goes to nursery 2 mornings a week. They have had chicken pox going round for the past 2-3 wks.

Over the last few days DS has become full of cold but generally fine in himself, went to nursery today.

About an hour ago he did the most impressive projectile vomit I've ever seen (unfortunately, all over me, the sofa and cream rug. If he'd waited 5 mins he would have been in the bath and we could have contained it ) -it came from nowhere and hes fine now. Hes gone to bed and is chatting happily to himself.

My only concern is we're going away for Easter -if this is the pox it will happen sooner rather than later won't it? I mean, if these symptoms are the start Chicken Pox the contagious bit will be in the next day or two I hope.

Bugger! Just typed long answer and lost it -wireless connection being a PITA!

Thanks for thinking of us.

DS now covered in spots -not all big, nasty ones but the worst are in his nappy area (ouch!) his chest and legs.

Giving him lots of bicarb baths. Bought some Piriton today, never used it before but thought it would help as I think some of the spots are getting itchy now. He had a dose at 4ish and was begging to go to bed by 6ish. It might mean an early start in the morning but as its Mothers Day its DPs turn to get up with them!

Being stuck at home is getting a little tedious to say the least though. Let me out of here...argh....

Once the spots are out, it does start to get better. Have been thinking of you and your little one. (Have spent my 50p)

jalopy · 17/03/2007 20:15

Aw, lost my bet!

BettySpaghetti · 17/03/2007 20:18

LOL at your 50p squonk .

That reminds me -did I see you placing a 50p wager on another thread recently? Do you like the odd bet by any chance?

No, I am not a gambler at all, but I am starting to get a bit worried about my inability to bypass a mn thread with the word "bet" in the title.

Have so far bet on three I think

BettySpaghetti · 17/03/2007 20:25

oooh I had a great temptation to start a thread entitled something like " Lets have a bet on....." to reel you in !!

you rotten bugger! It would have worked though. Am currently betting on whether venividivicki's dh lets her have two lie ins for her birthday today (he did) and mothers day tomorrow. Am also betting on whether Parcelforce will call whilst mn-er is on toilet!

I NEED to get a life

glad it's going ok for you even if cabin fever is starting to set in.

piriton should make him more comfortable. I also dashed out and bought calamine lotion when my ds had it and was hugely dissapointed that the once thick pink lotion that you could dab on was white and thinner than water. Couldn't even see where you'd dabbed it!

fryalot · 17/03/2007 20:46

Furball - I noticed that about the calamine; but when it dries it is white and quite visible.

BettySpaghetti · 17/03/2007 20:54

I dug out the calamine from the back of the bathroom cupboard (presume it doesn't have a use by date??) but hes not keen on having it applied -"too cold".

It seems to dry really white in places -we got some strange looks when we walked DD to school yesterday as he was plastered with splodges of white -other mums probably thought I hadn't cleaned his face after a yoghurt!

As the approach to the school has lots of open space around it we were able to walk DD quite close to the school without coming into contact with anyone and then just watch her walk across the grass to the gates. She loves it as she feels all grown up walking through the gates "alone"

Ah, bless. Not very comfortable, but if you put the bottle between your legs or under your arm for a little while, it does make it a bit warmer for them. I don;t think this does the calamine any harm.

Bless your dd being all grown up!

Furball · 17/03/2007 20:57

do you think i shook it properly

fryalot · 17/03/2007 20:59

d'you know, I never thought about that. Now you mention it, I'm not sure I did. Maybe I'll experiment.

BettySpaghetti · 17/03/2007 21:00

When I got the bottle out it had separated to the extent that the top bit was completely clear but was fine after really shaking it.

OP posts:
Furball · 17/03/2007 21:01

no i did deffo shake it as mine had seperated too, but it was costcutters own

BettySpaghetti · 17/03/2007 21:05

Maybe mine was whiter when applied as its a "vintage" bottle (thinking about it, we probably bought it when DD had chicken pox 6 yrs ago )

think ours was asda's own.
