Please can someone recommend what I should buy for my friend when I do her shopping. She's waiting to have her gall bladder removed and just out of hospital. Does anyone have experience of this?

Lots of fruit, veg and lean meat like chicken (and fish if she likes it). Porridge, cereal, skimmed milk, fat free yogurt with berries would be good for breakfasts

I imagine lots of fruit and veg, lean meat and fish, skimmed milk, low fat yogurt, pulses and beans would all be good?

Avoid things like cheese, chocolate, desserts, red meat, certain yogurts, eggs and crisps

Thanks both. I'm a fat eating veggie so a bit clueless as to meats n things.

I would be careful with any meat, to be honest. My DH was in this position last year, he started off with as close to zero fat as we could manage, and when we introduced chicken he had another attack. It's boring, but he was quite happy to stick to it if it meant no further attacks.

Do eggs have fat in them then? I thought they were on the good list?

Eggs are fine.

If you get fish make sure it's white fish, salmon and tuna have more fat

Thanks all
