Chickenpox possible incubation and risk of spreading...

I've just found out that a girl who came to visit our 16 month-old daughter, 11 days ago, developed chickenpox rash the next day, which is a very infectious time. So if the incubation is on average 15 days, and the most infectious time is 48 hours before, is it risky to let her mix with other toddlers tomorrow?

Can I cling on to the hope that she won't get it, or is it a given?

Children under one year of age whose mothers have not had chickenpox, or whose inborn immunity has already waned, can get severe chickenpox.

This is ds2. He's eight months and I've never seen chicken pox as severe in anyone else and most of ds1's friends have had it and so has he.

Ds2 caught it from ds1. Ds1 had about a dozen spots. I counted 57 at the side of his head, neck and face I could see whilst cradling in my arms at 3.30am whilst he screamed none stop. There is barely any skin that isn't covered by spots on his torso, head or neck but only the odd one on his arms and legs. I think he's coming out of the otherside of it now but it's been really difficult.

I didn't think that ds2 would get it because I'd had it and he was under 12 months. However when he was 3 months old he had to have IV antibiotics for suspected menengitis and that must have stripped all the good bugs as well as the bad. In a way I'm glad he's had it early but it's been very difficult for him and me. At least he won't remember but I will.

Are my 7yr old chicken pox contagious, she's had them for 12days and mostly scabbed over, a couple are just raw looking. We have a party tomorrow.
