is it normal for a filling to fall out after a few months?

Just that really. I had about half of a molar break and fall out, and had a filling, but it's fallen out after less than 6 months. Will I have to pay for another one, or should the dentist replace it for free? What's normal?

Not normal. I bet you still have to pay for it though

That's what I'm suspecting. I really like my dentist, he's lovely, but I'm beginning to suspect that he's not actually very good. He didn't point out that the enamel was coming off some of my teeth either, it took another dentist (long story) to point it out, then I went and asked my dentist about it and he was very laid back about it and didn't suggest anything to help it.

No, not at all. Some of my fillings are decades old and have never fallen out.
