Breast lumps

I had a sudden shooting pain in my right breast and it made me scream out. It only lasted 2 seconds but it happened another 3 times that night. The next day I examined my breast and found a lump, I made an appointment with the doctor who confirmed the lump and found another on the opposite side of the same breast. She said to wait until after my next period and if they are still there to go back. My period isn't due for another 2 weeks but I have since discovered a third lump on the same breast. They aren't painfull to touch but every night I have woke myself up crying out in pain, the same shooting pain I had the first time. My nanna is also suffering from breast cancer and just had her breast removed last week.

I do get painful breasts a week before my period but it isn't the same kind of pain and my period isn't due. Has anyone experienced anything similar and what was the diagnosis? Should I go back to the doctors about the 3rd lump or wait until after my period like she said.

Thanks for reading.

Difficult not to think the worst - your mind plays tricks on you despite your best efforts - let us know how you get on - and keep coming back if you need a hand hold while you are waiting x

I had my appointment to day. After an examination and an ultra sound I was told it was just fatty tissue otherwise known as a benign tumour. No further action unless it becomes a problem for me. I was a bit concerned that it wasn't biopsied though. I thought all tumours should be tested.

Thank you for all your support.

That's good news Staceyads - what a relief for you. Someone on here might know the reason about the biopsy. It's probably because it was very obvious what they could see ie the fatty tissue looks very different on imaging than other more worrying growths. V pleased for you.

Brilliant news. They know what they are looking for on the scans so don't worry about it not being biopsied. Did you request a copy of the letter that they send to your gp? I found that helped me when ever I had a wobble about their diagnosis. Good to see it written down iyswim.

No I presumed they would just send me one anyway. I am relieved just hope it clears up all together soon then I can totally move on. Xx
