My DH has been diagnosed with a E coli Urinary tract infection - he was having a routine check up there were no noticable symptoms - anyway GP proscribed antibiotics but has also said dh has to have a test a local hospital - where probe is sent up the urethra (if I am gettingterminology wrong I hope you know what I mean) - which he understandbly does not really want. Is he right to question the need for this invasive procedure? Can they not wait to see if the antibiotics clear things up - I think gp is being cautious as dh dad has been recently treated for bladder cancer and dh mum has MS so there are risk factors - I would err on side of caution but it is dh's bladder.

Anyone have any wisdom to share on this - should we be worried???
