Throat infection?

I went to doctors with a sore throat about 2 months ago, it wasn't like a normal sore throat though, it felt like I had a lump in my throat (like when you're about to cry). The doctor said it was nothing....

It did go away but now it's returned, a really bad pain at one side of my throat which comes and goes...all morning it's usually fine, by about 3pm it starts coming on again...again not like a normal sore throat but it feels like the muscles around my neck and throat are hurting, inside one of my tonsils is very swollen and sore looking.

Went to doctors this morning and he's given me antibiotics, said if he doesnt go away he will refer me. I'm also getting to odd pain my ear too (at the same side as the throat pain)...any idea what this could be?

Do you think the sensation of a lump in your throat might be globus. Quite common, apparently. Often linked to stress.
