Baby Poo Question

missingsleep · 08/03/2007 18:51

My breastfed 5 month old dd hasn't had a poo for three days now. Previously she went 3 - 6 times a day. She's currently giggling naked on the floor, so not too fussed, but is this normal?

Don't know the answer to your question as not BF but have you tried giving her some cooled boiled water with a little fresh orange? You can give it off a spoon if you don't want to give it in a bottle. Really helped my LO shift some poo when he was constipated.

Exclusively breastfed babies don't get constipated so don't worry. It's not unusual but be prepared for an explosion.

breast milk is better absorbed than formula and babies can go for days without pooping. DS was 9 days one time!

and yes, it was then explosive.

Ahh feel better hearing about the nine days thing. Quite worried about the nappy that awaits me though...
