TMI - Starving but everything goes right through me....

Since Tuesday morning have had attacks of diarrhoea. Otherwise feel fine (although am now beginning to feel lightheaded and tired) and feel hungry, fancy food but everything, ahem, seems to come out rather quickly about 4 or 5 hours later.

Any advice ? Do I keep eating or try and starve myself ?

Have you tried Immodium?

wheelybug · 08/03/2007 09:08

No I haven't because I thought (?) if it was a bug you shouldn't (not sure if that is correct) and there is the tiniest teeniest(sp ?) chance I might be pg.

The Immodium leaflet now says you can take it at any time as the old advice about not stopping diarrohea is out of date. It isn't necessary to flush the bug out of your system. But I guess they would say that!
My GP also says you don't need to starve yourself either, if you want to eat. If you think you're pg can you do a test so you know one way or the other? Other things to try are water that rice has been cooked in, grated apple and rehydration therapy.

You have my sympathy, I've just had a dose of Amoebic Dysentery - nappies seemed quite appealing at one stage!

thanks sue.

I have done a test (yesterday) which was neg. Hence why only a teeny tiny chance.

Thanks for the info though - will try eating something in a bit and see what happens.

Amoebic dyssentry sounds particularly grim. Poor you - hope you're over it now...
