Can any hayfever sufferers help?

I've suffered for hayfever years, but it never usually starts till the end of april,though it has been starting earlier each year, due to the farmer over the road doing his fields, however, I bought some daffodils yesterday and since i've had them in the house, my eyes are streaming, my nose is itching and I have a horrendous headache.

I think my hayfever has started now, but, what I wanted to know is, does anyone else suffer with headaches whilst suffering from hayfever?

I can do, mainly because all my sinus's are all blocked up and inflamed but most of all just that horrible thick headedness that hayfever brings. You have all my sympathy and I hope you manage to control it soon. Have you discussed options with GP?

I have had it since I was 2 and yes I get headaches with it. DD started last year when she was 7 and has been complaining of sneezing and itchy eyes with the flowers in her classroom. I sort of dismissed it and thought she had a cold, but maybe I should listen to her. I don't start until June so wouldn't be affected at the moment. Hope you feel better very soon.

I'm just waiting for the doctor to get back to me for a phone appointment.

As long as I start on my zirtex and beconase fairly soon I SHOULD be fine, I start a new job on Monday so don't want to go in on the first day with eyes and nose streaming.

Radley, I think the tree pollen must be in the air already after a mild winter as I've started to get a sore throat , sore sinuses and feel a bit headachey this week - classic hayfever symptoms for me. Have you tried neo-clarityn tablets, I find they're a bit more effective than zirtek. Also maybe check out about a nasal spray with the gp as I find that really useful too.

GOOD, I HOPE THEY CAN HELP YOU. PLEASED TO KNOW ABOUT THE FLOWERS CAUSING PROBLEMS AS MY DD WAS DIAGNOSED WITH GRASS POLLEN ALLERGY LAST YEAR. WAS VERY BAD WITH EFFECTS OF SORE EYES ECT ALL SUMMER. MY MUM WONT HAVE ANY FLOWERS IN HER HOUSE NOW BUT I WASNT SURE WETHER THEY WOULD EFFECT MY DD OR NOT. DONT KNOW WHY BUT I THINK I READ SOMETHING ABOUT PRETTY FLOWERS NOT CAUSING A PROBLEM FOR PEOPLE. NOW I FEEL A LITTLE STUPID! MY DD DID ONCE SAY HER NOSE HURT AFTER SNIFFING A DAFFODIL AT SCHOOL AND I AM SURE SHE IS ALLERGIC TO MORE POLLENS THAN JUST GRASS. If you know which tablets work for you get them from chemist4u .com .they are chaeper than a prescription . I use tons so always get them from there. they use generic names rather than brand names.

I use Neoclarityn from the chemist. Was on normal shop bought ones but they didn't help. I also get conjunctivitis with my hayfever.
It only started bout 3yrs ago. Odd.
I normally start end of march and go through to july (well i did last year cos i got married in july and didn't want sneezing/runny nose/itchy eyes)
It's strange,i wore contacts last year and it helped the conjunctivitis, Well i still had itchy eyes but they weren't as bad as previous years. Haven't got enough cash this month to stock up on lenses . Oh well, bring it on.

you won't believe me, but all hayfever sufferers please give this a try:

Cut out all wheat, beer and red wine.

My DH has had terrible hayfever since a teenager. antihistamines had stopped working effectively, he even tried homeopathy. then he heard that wheat puts pressure on your body and reducing that pressure can help your body cope with allergies etc etc.. He didn't eat wheat last year and it was amazing. Except when he went on a stag do, drank a load of beer and was terrible again for days!

so come spring, he goes "wheat free" - he has had to start this week as the itchy eyes and throat started.

amidaiwish - that's really interesting actually. Before I settled down I used to drink a lot of beer and never had problems but since I had my little ones and stopped drinking so much, I really notice an allergy when I drink beer. I get immediate hayfever symptoms, (I've had terrible hayfever all my life) sneezing, snotty nose, itchy eyes......

I may well try giving up wheat for a while and see if it makes a difference. Will be interesting to speak to my Mum about that too as she was recently diagnosed as coeliac and so is now totally wheat free (also gets bad hayfever)
