Can you delay a period without using the pill?

I've just realised that my period will come next month when we are on holiday. We're away for 10 days, and it will last about 6 days. Lately, I've had really heavy periods, and I really need to be in close proximity to a toilet for at least three of these days. (Sorry if TMI). Could I get anything from the doc, or, preferably, from the chemist to delay for a week or so? I don't think my GP would give me a pill prescription - I have high blood pressure, and I'll be flying to go on holiday. Any help would be VERY much appreciated.

there is a hormone tablet called norethisterone (SP!) that you can get, that should do the trick

lulumama · 07/03/2007 19:49

from the GPs obviously

If you are on the pill (i was on cilest) you can take that without a break between packs. hth.

Ha ha ha, Nicky! I think I'd rather have a year-long period! I'll try your suggestion, lulumama. Thanks.
