never had them but I'll have a go at commenting anyway

Pros - not having to remember to take a pill every day, should eventually result in lighter periods/no periods

Cons - likely to have irregular bleeding while your body gets used to the hormones (i.e. in first few months), possible delay in return to fertility after the injection

Ive never had the injection but i do have the implant so can give you my experience.

Easy to have put in, you have one appointment to discuss it and what it entails, then one to have it put in.
You have a local anesthetic, and it is sort of injected under the skin, doesnt hurt, just feels weird.

I had headaches for 3-4 months and alot of bleeding. It soon settled down though, you need to persevere (sp?) with it for at least 6 months to let any side effects die down.

I wouldnt even know i had it now, i rarely have a period, its nice not having the worry of forgetting to take anything, and after you have it fitted you have 1 appt 3 months later, and then that is it untill you have it removed. No trapsing to the drs every 3 months!

I have the injection, and i love it! Like izzy said, you have to give it a couple of months, after my 1st injection i was like a psycho, crying one min screaming the next, but that only lasted for one month (injection is every 12 weeks) after 2nd injection no probs, now i have had it for a couple of years. My periods stopped straight away, although i do know when its time for them because i get kind of cramps, not painful, just can feel it IYKWIM!! The thought of the implants scare me!!!

I havent put any on, obviously everyone has different side effects.

I have the injection. Am finding it difficult to lose weight after ds, although if I stopped eating biscuits it might be a start, so don't know if weight gain is an issue.

Site of jab is sore for a day or two, but never having to worry about anything is a big relief.

I would definitely recommend the injection.

(extra good point - health visitor is authorised to give it, so don't have to see doctor every time)
