tweezers?

foxinsocks · 05/03/2007 18:21

blowing nose while closing other nostril

otherwise A&E!

tortoiseSHELL · 05/03/2007 18:21

I had to take Ds1 to A&E for a pea up his nose. They got it out with a hook on a stick - the problem is you can push it further up if you're not really careful. You could hope he sneezes it out.

themaskedposter · 05/03/2007 18:22

when dd did this with a sweetcorn kernel ... dh had to 'stab'it with a safety pin () whilst dd lay very still (she was about 2 at the time and not very good at staying still - however she perfected it in this instant with the threat of 'losing her nose')

southeastastra · 05/03/2007 18:22

not tweezers! can't he blow it out himself

SoupDragon · 05/03/2007 18:22

Get them to take a deep breath through their mouth, close off the non-raisined nostril and get them to snort air out very hard from the other.

Do not stick tweezers up!

Blackduck · 05/03/2007 18:23

Get him to sneeze - ds has done this TWICE!...did try a cotton bud (if you can actually see it...)...but he wiggled too much

greyriver · 05/03/2007 18:23

to far up, he's sneezed loads, but its still not moved, Its way way up, can barley just see it, there wouldnt be enough to grab iykwim

This has removed both a pea sized ball and an inch long piece of macaroni from DS2's nose.

Nbg · 05/03/2007 18:23

Can you tell I've not had to deal with this yet?

lol

tortoiseSHELL · 05/03/2007 18:24

Tbh I would go to A&E, especially if it's a long way up.

SD LOL!!! I was deeply peed off when ds did it the second time!

SoupDragon · 05/03/2007 18:24

If sneezing does not remove it then it's a job for A&E.

SoupDragon · 05/03/2007 18:25

(the macaroni was hilarious! It was cooked too so no idea how he shoved it up so far. He snorted it out and it kept coming and coming... like those strings of flags magicians pull from their pockets )

greyriver · 05/03/2007 18:28

lol at macaroni. Friend just said he's got brown snot now...oh the joys on a monday night

A & E best. How old is he? Only ask because dd is 3.5 and has never done this - was wondering if had managed to escape nose experimentation. Saying that, if anyone was lkely to shove things up his nose, it would be ds (18months) so this thread is giving me useful pointers for the day he decides to insert.

greyriver · 05/03/2007 18:34

he's 3.3 pooka

If breathing is troubled A&E immediately. Otherwise I would monitor. It should come out eventually. But watch the breating. DS did this with a broad bean. This was the advice we were given at the time.

pooka · 05/03/2007 18:42

Aha - might be in the clear with dd!

Will keep a beady eye on ds though

DS2 was nearly 5 with the macaroni!

pooka · 05/03/2007 20:04

Oh dear SD - will no doubt be posting something similar in a few months.

MrsSpoon · 05/03/2007 20:05

I would say go to A&E too, they can get it out quickly and safety without pushing it any further up. DS1 did this with a playmobile man's hand once.

Mercy · 05/03/2007 20:07

Soupdragon is right - this is only waht they will do at A & E anyway as a first step.

If it doesn't work then it has to be A&E I'm afraid.

dd did this with a piece of gravel. Why do they do it fgs?!
