Am getting a bit worried about my ds, but am not usually one who jumps to go to the doctor so just surveying some opinions out there...

Came back from hol in Abu Dhabi last Sunday (ie. 8 days ago). Since then he has been very whingey and very tired. First I put it down to jetlag and then thought maybe he is tired because he did so much out there. Then wondered if teething. Now, after 8 days I am getting a bit worried about him. He has no temperature or 'obvious' signs of something being wrong or than this sleep, sleep, sleep and lots of whining which he has never done before.

Sleep: approx 11 hours over night, then again 2-3 hours in am, 2-3 hours in pm. This is a lot more than he used to do.

Could it be a growth spurt (he's not eating loads either, but not on hunger strike)? Anyone else come across this?

I would go to the drs - my friend had a dd who did this and was really grumpy too - it turned out that she had a long standing ear infection.

Thanks for info 3s enough. I'll give him till tomorrow...could be ears if he's been on a 'plane but no temperature so not sure about infection.

No - the friend's dd didn't have a temp either! That's why she left it for a month!!

it could be any number of things. Personally, I would get him checked out, just to be on the safe side.

Extreme tiredness is quite worrying. Any other symptoms at all?

MerryMarigold · 06/03/2007 21:52

He seems to be a bit better today, definitely happier, and slept more usual amounts. I generally don't trust GP's too much (apologies if anyone is one - there are a few good ones out there, just not at my surgery. They won't do anything and will treat me like an over-protective Mum. However if this carries on for another week, I will insist on tests.

Thanks 3s and quietmouse. No, there are no other symptoms at all. Eating/ drinking/ pooing/ temperature are all normal.
