Started Cerazette nearly 6wks ago and...

Started my 1st period on it 10 days ago & im still bleeding! It's not particularly heavy heavy, just doesn't seem to be stopping! Is this normal?

Before being on it, my period lasted for around 6 days.

Yes I'm afraid it can do this. Is important to note that bleeding on the POP isn't a true period because you haven't ovulated. I found after a couple of months it settled down to a couple of days a month and eventually it stopped altogether.

I bled from about day 3 of cerazette until I stopped taking it 6 weeks later. Everyone kept saying it would settle eventually but I just couldn't cope with bleeding every day for that long. The gp wouldn't prescribe anything different because she wanted me to give it 6 months.

i stuck it for 3 months before switching to micronor. bled almost constantly on it was a nightmare.

I was on it for 6 months but gave up because the bleeding never settled down. It might stop for 2-3 days and then it would start again.

I'm in my first Cerazatte period too. Started a day later than I usually would and I'm on day 5 now and this has been a different type of period than I'm used to. Usually I'm really heavy to start and then I'm done by day 5, but this started off slow, continued very stop-start for a few days and now it's become heavier but still not as bad as it usually would be when my 'normal' period started. Also a lot more spotty and tired and feel really run down (though it has been a rough week for other reasons). Hoping that this settles down as it seems a lot of women have problems with continuous bleeding.

Apparently this pill is the most similar to the hormones in the implant which I hope to get once I've lost half a stone, but a good trial to see if I get on with it.

Same experience here. Mentioned it to my GP she seemed a bit surprised and told me that many women stopped having periods altogether. I persevered for another few weeks but the bleeding still didn't stop.

I love the combined contraceptives pill but doctors won't prescribe it to me as I get migraine auras.

Ok, so it's nots unusual,it does seem to be slowing down, almost stopping now anyway, but I do feel quite worn out & a bit dizzy. Will mention it next time I see my GP.

I too can't take the combined pill because of migraine bluetongue.

I am on it now nearly 2 years . I started it as had terrible period problems. I bled for a long time when I started it and the GP told me to stick with it . I am so happy that I did . I probably had one really bad bleed since then and a couple of light ones but I have not had a period in about 10 months now

Sorry - posted too soon! You are not the only one in this boat! I'm also 6 weeks into using Cerazette. I had a period at usual time, which lasted a week rather than usual 4 days and then started bleeding again yesterday. I'm feeling really crampy too. Everything I've read suggests this is normal but it doesn't make it any better does it? I'm hoping it will settle down - and good to hear at least one person saying it was worth sticking it out. I'm going to try but not feeling great today.

Singinggoldfinch I did lots of research at the time and got very mixed reviews. I persevered because I was having the most horrendous periods . It was not easy getting used to cerazzette . The doc happy now and said I can stay on it until I'm 55 all going well . Now I'm 48.

I've been on it a year and a half and about to come off it as I bleed all the time. Every couple of weeks I'll bleed for a week. I gave it more than enough time. Hate it.

I came off it a year ago and now I remember why. Since taking it again in January I have had a 4 week period, a couple of weeks off and now have started again - really light bleeding that's just annoying - and have awful skin and feeling emotional/anxious most of the time.

So tempting to stop it altogether but the doctor can't or won't recommend anything non hormonal which is what I really want. Persevere for as long as you can and hopefully it will settle down. Keeping my fingers crossed for myself there too!

Thatwasiverthere you have just reminded me that my skin was horrific too when I started it and it took a year to settle . God I feel bad staying stuck with it now but I have to say I wouldn't be without it now

Cerazette made me bleed continuously for over a year. I begged to be allowed back on the combined pill after that. Total hell.

I had this too on Cerazette/Cerelle OP. Though I do bleed on all mini pills I've tried. On Noriday at the moment and have normal periods which is not 'supposed' to happen. However Cerelle did make me bleed more days of the month than not.

I don't want to hijack the thread but I started taking Cerazette a week ago and I'm having dizzy spells? Not sure if it's the pill but seems bit of a coincidence.... anyone else had this?

This makes me wonder how much this kind of anecdotal feedback on pills actually makes it to GPs and drug companies. We all know about the near constant bleeding on Cereazette for example, or that yes some women do have periods on the mini pill but because the guidance says this won't happen we're always told to wait for it to 'settle down'.

How long did it take for the bleeding to calm down Sadallthetime? I'm getting so fed up with it, but thinking I'll try and stick it out for 3 months as recommended by family planning nurse. From what people say though, it can take longer than that?

It appears I spoke too soon! I started bleeding again a couple of days ago?! This isn't helping with my headaches at all - which is really ironic as this is the reason I was put on these the first place 🙄

I'm guessing when I go back to see my GP she'll most likely say that I'm best to stick with them for another few months to see what happens.

MrsJasonStatham - For got to add - I too have been feeling a bit giddy, although it's more so when I get up from sitting down or when I've bent down & getting back up, I've noticed that I'm a lot more light headed than usual, I've definitely noticed this over the last few weeks, perhaps there is a connection with the tablets?

I think different pills suit different people. I was on Yasmin for ages and it was awful, terrible mood swings, lots of weight gain etc. I switched to Cezarette 3 months ago and have lost half a stone, no periods at all or bleeding and feel much better in myself. It's so strange how everyone has different experiences.

I started cerazette in October. Have been bleeding since the 11th of January.

It's driving me mad as it was supposed to help my periods to try and combat the iron issues from heavy periods.

Don't see the consultant until the 3rd of may! GP recommended sticking it out for 6 months!

I am so glad I have found this thread. I am 44 and starting with perimenopause and started this 6 weeks ago to get a grip of the irregular bleeding as I have a thickened womb lining too. I had bled for 13 weeks straight before trying it. This sorted it within about 4 days and then just had the random bleeds but then 12 days ago period started and it was a proper one. Except for the last 5 days I take my pill at lunchtime stop bleeding about 2pm and then go all the way to about 7am and I start again until I take the next pill. It's nowhere near as bad as the bleeding I was having even at it's heaviest now it is much better. I feel really well in myself although my iron is low and no spots, hair loss or crazy mood swings so I love it and want to persevere with it. This has given me some hope it might all settle down as I cannot have the combined pill due to aura migraine. Thanks all for sharing
