She slept at a friends on friday night. Saturday morning was apparently v lethargic, hot, sore belly and sore throat. She was very sleepy all day Sat - but did have a v late night at friend's house. Yesterday pm she had a slight rash on her chest and back.

This morning her face is all blotchy/pink/puffy and her rash covers her neck, shoulders, back and front. The rash is hot and she said it was itching - but that could be because she was all hot and sticky in bed.

She won't eat because her throat hurts too much. Her neck is sore and her head hurts.

If she has tonsillitis could that cause a viral rash? would a viral rash make her face blotchy and puffy?

Have been trying to ring NHS direct since 8am but get the 'all operators are busy and you should only hold if it is a desperate emergency

I don't get it. NHS Direct and the OOH GP are differnt services? Here in Scotland NHS24 is the OOH GP service. You are assessed by a nurse who will arrange an appt at OOH centre if necessary.

We have NHS direct and Baycall which covers our area.Baycall gets a GP to call you back and tell you to come for an appointment at local hospital

Hiya sorry I had to go and do the sit and wait thing at the walk in centre then had an argument with dp when we got back so didn't get back on here.

They let us see the doctor instead of the triage nurses and he just said she has tonsillitis.

She is still covered in a rash and very hot, grumpy. Got AB's so have started those. If she is no better in the morning I'll be straight to our gp.

Typically the rash on her face disappeared at the centre!

Her rash is very itchy. Is that common in a viral rash or could it indicate something else?

Friend of ours had tonsilitis with an itchy rash - turned out the virus triggered some sort of skin allergy in him. He took an antihistamine with his antibiotics to stop him itching.

If the itchiness is bothering her, could you call the pharmacy where you got the antibiotics and find out if you can give piriton (if you have any) with the antibiotics?

Poor her (and you!).

foxinsocks · 04/03/2007 20:00

has she had those antibiotics before?

zephyrcat · 04/03/2007 20:16

She's had these ones before. The doc gave it to us from his cupboard - it was a bottle of powder that we had to take home and make up! Still, I'm sure if we pop into boots they could point us in the right direction.

I feel really sorry for her. She's now started irching the insides of her forearms so they are both red and bumpy as well as the rest of her!

Itching - I'm not totally sure she's started irching yet

poor her - have you got any Piriton/antihistamine in the cupboard?

foxinsocks · 04/03/2007 20:21

irching sounds good though doesn't it - sort of itching and lurching together

zephyrcat · 04/03/2007 20:24

lol

Amazingly we don't have anything like that, which is silly as I'm allergic to just about everything under the sun!

I wonder what has triggered it off then. V strange!!!

how's junior zephyr today?

zephyrcat · 05/03/2007 16:46

Hiya

She's made a miraculous recovery today! She woke up saying she was still itch and she still as a bit of a rash but I didn't take her to the doctor again. You would think from today there was never a thing wrong!!

melsy · 07/03/2007 11:01

glad shes better zephyrcat. How is she today? evereyone seems ill all around

zephyrcat · 07/03/2007 12:10

She's gone off back to school today in her new summer dress so she's well chuffed!!

Seems to be an awful lot of 'things' about though, it's so annoying.

I'm actually really p'd off with her friend's Mum - dd went for a sleepover there last Friday and was then ill from the Saturday. Sleepover friend's Mum said on the Sunday when I asked her if her dd was ok that she suddenly remembered that she's been saying she felt poorly before ...err so why let dd sleepover??

Last time she slept over there at xmas she came home with a sickness bug and headlice!!
