oops, can't find the instructions (brain went dead after arrival of dd!!). If I'm switching from the minipill to combined, do i take the combined pill straightaway without leaving a gap or do i wait seven days or something? HELLP!!took my last minipill today!

You would start the new pack of combined pills tomorrow (immediately after finishing the pack of mini-pills) but you must use extra protection or avoid intercourse for the first 7 days if you don't want to be at risk of pregnancy.

Just to make sure - you're not still breast feeding are you? If so, switching to the combined pill will interrupt your milk supply and is not a good idea. Let me know if you need any other advice.

Its normal to only be prescribed a new type of pill for 3 months, as its important for whoever prescribes it to you to check that everything is ok after a relatively short period of time before you are given more supplies. It is generally a no-no for anyone breast feeding to use the combined pill as it does affect breast milk supply. It won't really do you any harm as such, but it could make continuing to feed difficult.

I would advise you to return to your doctor before the last pack of pills runs out to discuss your options.

hate to say this but you're absolutely right hellomama! my milk production seems to be going down the drain..no longer feel my boobs getting full and dd cries angrily at the boob now after i started the combined pill about a week ago.am confused as to what i shd do now tho, shd i stop the pill completely or wait til i finish the pack and try to go back on the minipill? ive been trying to call my dr in the meantime, but no luck.

hazlinh - whether you can stop the pill immediately may depend on when you BD'd last with your partner. from a milk production point of view, the sooner you stop the combined pill the better, but from a contraception point of view it may be wiser for you to carry on for 7 more days and use other protection if you BD. Is there a family planning you could ring if no joy from your Docs.

Mercilon is still a combined pill albeit low dose. I would not advise it when breastfeeding. Progesterone only pill will not affect milk supply.

Here is a link pill

the dr's just given me a different brand of the combined now, i think. He's given me Mercilon(was on Marvelon after switching from Noriday) saying it should help with the milk production. Fingers crossed now!

Baby Dancing (!) abbreviation used a lot on the trying to conceive boards. I was amazed when I found out what it stood for too
