Neck strain

My poords aged 6 has strained his neck this morning (about 8) and is still uncomfortable now. He cannot put his neck straight and it is tilting to the right, if he tries to straighten it he cries. We have given him calpol but is there anything else I can/should be doing. I was considering calling the gp but dh says I shouldn't. Any advice gratefully received.

Why not call NHS direct and see what they suggest

I would call NHS direct for advice. In the meantime try warming the painful area with a heat pack if you have one.

Phoned NHS direct over the weekend and have just come back from the gp this evening. He has pulled his neck and the muscles have gone into spasm, poor little love
He is finding it so hard to walk around and the gp offered me valium as it is a muscle relaxant and I said no. Maybe I should have taken it but felt really worried.
Ds is being so brave, I feel really sorry for him!
