Has anyone been sedated at the dentists with medazolam?

How did it feel and did you feel pain whilst they did the work in your mouth? I am due to have my molar extracted in May and I will be sedated for it, does the sedation put you to sleep or how does it make you react to pain? I am finding really mixed information online.

You won't remember a thing... it's awesome stuff! I have had Midazolam twice for dental work and honestly, though it is called 'conscious sedation' you really are not. Apparently you can respond to commands, but you won't feel, or remember anything.

(I'm amazed it's not a recreational drug tbh... it's that good!)

You will need someone to take you home , as you can't drive afterwards.

I've had Fenotyl before at hospital when I had a nephrostomy put in. They said it was sedation because I was pregnant but I literally don't remember anything in fact I think I just woke up at the end .. it was pain free too which was nice.

No one will be able to tell you what it felt like, because they will have no memory. It has a high street value because it can be used as a date rape drug because you will literally have no memory of the previous hour or two. You will still be conscious but the dentist will be able to faff around in your mouth without you minding. Overall a pretty safe and easy way to do dental work on someone who would otherwise find it difficult to tolerate.

It will be a bit gross with all the blood and pulling in my mouth I couldn't bare to let someone in there!!

No nausea, no after affect at all.. just the lovely knowledge that I'd been treated and had no fear :)

Had my impacted wisdom teeth out under sedation; it was most enjoyable. It was like being really drunk (in a good way) without feeling ill.

I had that as a pre med before a GA. felt drunk, laughed a lot and then nothing
I did ask for anti sickness and felt fine after but that was with a full GA too

Best dentist trip ever, I was in at 9 in the morning and don't remember most of the day! Apparently I ate loads and slept

Hi had two wisdom teeth taken out using midazolam, could not remember thing. Apparently I spent the afternoon just giving random strangers a thumbs up. Woke up the next morning with no memory and no pain.

Exactly the same experience as stillmedusa.

I remember vaguely bits (i had 3 wisdom teeth extracted) but i wasn't bothered by it on every bit and during or after hardly felt any pain just felt a tiny bit sore for a day or so which is normal to be bruised.

I felt faint when I came round. I didn't fall to sleep but the nurse told me some people do fall to sleep as they are so relaxed.

I felt extremely drunk but without the adrenaline rush it gives if that makes sense, it is extremely calming.

I had local injections as well yes but they gave me that once I already had the sedative in he cannular so I can't recall the injections at all.

You can still feel pain although you wouldnt remember it so yes, you have to have numbing injections. Without them you would be trying to stop the dentist doing the work.

You also get them when you have work done under GA.

Lots of times. Dental phobia for years. Much better now!

I get punchy on it.... Apparently my phobia was so severe that even under sedation my fears came through and a couple of times I swung for the dentist . I'm not like that normally!!

However, no pain, no memory and lots of treatment done. You have to have someone with you - I suspect in part because of the memory thing (yes, it's a date rape drug) but also because you'll be all over the place afterwards for a few hours. My friends thought it was hilarious 🙄

My husband will bring me. I'm always very angry when I have a general anaesthetic even though I'm not an angry girl so let's hope I'm polite this time

I've had it twice now for a wisdom tooth extraction and then privately for a root canal as I'm ridiculously nervous. The stuff is amazing!! I honestly don't remember much about either procedure- except drifting off into a peaceful sleep and then waking up, stumbling with help to car, sleeping the whole way home and for most of the afternoon.
I think I woke up during the extraction, remember the dentist's hand in my mouth but they gave me another shot and off I drifted again. It's 'conscious sedation' so you're not totally out, just super relaxed and you can respond to what they say.

Just wish I could add it to my birth plan!

I had it for a prolonged bit of treatment. The absolute business! No memory of what was done, just the end result.

I did come around when they were putting the putty in and I fekkin freaked. That is my trouble, feeling choked with the impressions. So that didn't work so much. Has anyone overcome this aspect.

So do they just inject you with it or put in in a venflon and top it up
Do you drift off to sleep?
Then you have the numbing injections.
Do you feel dizzy or sick afterwards?
Would I be likely to say rude daft things to my dentist

I've had it a couple of times, love the feeling, I remember the whole thing though, but time seemed to pass very quickly.
They put a cannula in in case they need to top it up, I talk so much shit when I'm in recovery though, literally can't stop myself from saying random things, telling all my secrets. Lol

When I was in hospital I was given pethidine and after the worst fucking pregnancy known to man kind I was seriously pissed off with all of the midwives who didn't treat me the best they could at times. Anyway, the pethidine got me all cross and I was telling my husband very loudly about how I would burn everyone's houses down if anything happened to me or my baby 😂😂

For lots of reasons that really shouldn't be funny but 😂😂😂
