Conjunctivitus

I think my DS nearly 6months has conjunctivitus. His eyes are very gunky. I have drops in the fridge prescribed for him a while ago but went unused. Should I use them or get an appt for the GP?

I would go and see the GP and get new ones.

Are the drops sealed and unused? And in date? If so, might be okay if sure it is conjunctivitus again.

Cool boiled water is just as effective, I was told this by the GP years ago!

Beabea · 02/03/2007 15:20

It was prescribed as a just in case prescription about 6weeks ago.

I have cleaned his eyes but not with cooled boiled water. Will do that and see how they are. They look better already. It was looking quite yucky when he woke up.

Cool boiled water (separate cotton wool for each eye!) works a treat for cleaning up but I've found that drops are usually needed before it seems to clear up. Any tips on how to effectively get them into a feisty two year olds eyes without WW3 or histerics though???

Are you bfeeding? If so, use bmilk - am doing that with my nearly 3yo atm and it's working well.

HELP!! how do i give feisty 10month old eyedrops? he's been given drops from doc but it's nearly impossible to get them in...short of pinning him down which just results in eyes tightly shut & screaming! aarrgghh.....desp want his conjunc to clear up! Breast milk? do you just squeeze it in his eye? happy to try anything to make it better for him....
