Anyone else had it and for how long? I'm now on day 23 and still not right.
Mine started just as a sore throat and tight chest. In bed for two days, eventually started feeling better but it was like one step forward, two back. I was sore from coughing and gasping for breath. Last Thursday finally started feeling vaguely human again but still get a spluttery coughing fit and feel worse in bed. I'm soooooo tired and can hardly climb the stairs. Prior to this I was running 5k twice a week, and doing 3 classes in gym as well as walking everywhere.

I'm in bed with an op cancelled because of the horrible cough and the bright orange diarrhea. 2 lots of penicillin not making much of a difference.

Can't do very much. How do I get whooping cough diagnosed?

Silver17 · 01/03/2017 14:07

Diarrhoea could be from antibiotics. Think someone had a blood test for Whooping cough.according to them it is going around.

Yep-DP, he is on Week 4 and starting to seem a bit better. It's awful. BiL has been off work with it also.

Feel very guilty but I am glad DP is working away for most of the week so I can have 3 full nights sleep Blush.

New bout of green snot this morning and throat sore! I am at the end of my tether! Baby ds has slept for 2.5 hours this afternoon as he is also on this merry go round of illness. I've made myself just sit on the sofa because I 've got so much to do but I have made myself rest.
How on earth do people cope when they have actual serious long term conditions???

Christinedaae17 · 02/03/2017 17:17

Me I started with it round 3 weeks ago blocked nose, feeling all stuffy in my sinuses. That cleared pretty quick and I started to feel better only to be floored by this coming on, coughing, feeling generally crap again sore throat. But slowly getting there

Into fifth week now and joints starting to ache,is this part of this wonderful bug?

Blacksheep78 · 03/03/2017 22:50

GP decided yesterday that I have asthma. I never knew asthma had so many symptoms, and was contagious.... Drippy nose, sore throat, aching muscles, lethargy, diarrhea, chills, sweats, no appetite, tight chest, productive cough - yep asthma for sure...

empirerecordsrocked · 03/03/2017 22:54

We're on week five - it comes as goes - go said six weeks is normal. DH is a teacher and had four days of at he beginning, never had time off before. Feels like we're all passing the same germs back and forth. Four episodes of croup for the kids too.

It would be interesting to know where this virus is most prevalent. I am in Lancashire and know several people with it but not many in Manchester.

paganmolloy · 04/03/2017 17:38

I'm in Scotland

I wonder if this is what I have right now? I have a constant wheezing and crackling on my chest and find it hard to breathe properly-it is worse when I am out in the cold or do any exercise or bending, particularly in the morning or night. I definitely have mucus but only on my chest. I did see my GP who said he couldn't find anything really wrong but gave me an inhaler to use, I do use it when I'm struggling to breathe but I'm not sure if its doing anygood or not.

When I cant breathe, I start coughing to the point of feeling sick and I'm red in the face with a massive headache. Its been going for months now!

LanaorAna1 · 07/03/2017 21:31

Me London. Very, very tired re the night coughing. 2 lots of ABS and am starting to feel better, but this one will be a long haul.

Monkeypuzzle32 · 09/03/2017 14:38

for those of you still suffering, as am I-I went to my osteopath today for a neck complaint (I've had before) and was coughing and red in the face when I turned up-I mentioned it to him to explain why I was coughing and he said 'oh you and everyone else, lots of people have had it, its a virus' he treated my neck and also did some breathing treatments on me which worked so well-they were the only thing that's worked in months and I actually felt normal on the walk home!

Worth a try if you're still suffering, I feel so much better now even if the effect wears off at some point!

LanaorAna1 · 09/03/2017 22:09

Really really useful info, thanks Monkey.

Silver17 · 10/03/2017 07:18

Hello. How is everyone? Anyone feeling better?

FairNotFair · 10/03/2017 08:06

Still coughing like a good 'un. Having blood tests and chest x-rays - I finally went to the GP out of desperation and she gave me antibiotics... no change to the coughing, but I now have festive noises in my lungs. Joyful.

FairNotFair · 10/03/2017 08:08

... and I'm so BORED with it all. And I look like shit... can't be bothered to put on makeup; massive root re-growth, but I can't face the hairdresser's because of the coughing. I loathe myself Sad

Monkeypuzzle32 · 10/03/2017 20:53

LanaorAna1 no problem , so far so good-no coughing for me today-much better than anti-biotics!
