Anyone else had pleurisy?

I've got pleurisy (usually only found in Charles Dickens novels!), after having a cough and cold for weeks, followed by a chest infection. It's agony. I feel OKish by about midday, but then as soon as I lie down, it gets a lot worse, and is awful all night, and makes it virtually impossible to get up in the morning (although I feel better once I'm upright again).

I'm on my second batch of antibiotics, and have been prescribed some paracetamol plus something else and sodium diclofenac (like nurofen) for pain relief. Anybody else tried anything that has helped?

I have only had pleurisy once, but it was truly awful so you have my sympathies.

Night time was the worse and the only thing that helped was to sleep as upright as I could manage... I propped myself up with pillows and that did bring some relief.

I also burned some essential oils in my room overnight with lavender and clary sage and that sort of thing which sort of helped me sleep a little.

I think it was just a waiting game for it to go... hope it improves for you.
