wobbly tooth... a dental question...

dd (5) has had her first wobbly tooth (at the bottom and front) for about 2 weeks now.. but looking this morning, we could see her new tooth coming through behind it... and it looks quite large... should it be coming through behind??? should i pop to show the dentist? will the other teeth just move and make room? basically... as with all parenting, this is uncharted waters for us... is this normal???

This happened quite often with DC's sometimes the new tooth "pushes" the old one out and sometimes the new one doesn't appear for weeks. Also the jaw is growing at this stage and the baby face changes into the older child face. Also the back molars are starting to come through

The jaw change happens again when they are about 12 when the second molars come through and about 18 when the wisdoms appear

Occassionally the dentist may take the old tooth but this would be picked up at the six monthly check up.

If a tooth is wobbly it is showing signs of dropping out (they love this stage esp in class it drives the teacher mad)

This happened to DS and we took him to the dentist but it wasn't really necessary. The front two teeth came through behind, eventually the baby teeth came out and the other teeth moved forward. His mouth was a bit of a mess with teeth all over for a while but it is sorted now. He has two of his molars through now as well. He is just 6. And yes the new teeth look huge in comparison.

ah! good old mumsnet!... i must admit it freaked me out a little as it looks huge, it's about the width of 1 1/2 of her baby teeth...

will have another look when she gets home from school as in my head it seems to be getting bigger and bigger!
