Alternatives to prescription iron?

My iron levels are regularly quite low and as an ibs sufferer I find the prescription iron gives me very bad digestive problems.

I have tried floradix which also made my tummy bad.

Since last summer I have been taking Spatone which is easy on my tummy but my levels have been tested again and are still very low :(

Any suggestions how to up them without resorting to the prescription iron?

How many spatone are you taking? You usually need 3 spatone a day to increase your levels. Also, taking it in orange juice instead of water increases its absorption.
Another tip is to avoid drinking tea before or after taking it or within 30 mins of meals. Tanin in tea reduces iron absorption. HTH

I've been taking 2 per day with orange juice. I'll start taking 3.
