Hand damaged by blood pressure cuffpics included

Had blood pressure monitor put on today by nurse. Felt extremely tight as it measured blood pressure throughout the day to point where my hand felt like it would pop but I've not had one on before so thought perhaps it was normal.
Anyway late afternoon the vet called to see one of my horses and the cuff began to tighten and just kept going! My hand was purple and the vet had to help me off with my top so I could get the cuff off Blush
I noticed my hand had become mottled and discoloured and now just feels sore, Tingly an weird? It also bruised the top of my arm where it dug into me as it tightened.
Has anyone else had this and how long will it take to get back to normal?

I had similar on my upper arm with 24 hour monitor. It was incredibly uncomfortable to the point of painful when inflating and I slightly loosened it and then worried it wouldn't give accurate readings. It left my arm marked but, iirc, in a sort of pattern of red like yours but more the shape of the cuff fabric. I was quite shocked. It was a few years ago but I think it healed like a bruise. Having said that I think you should check with your gp just to be sure.

Ps the cuff wouldn't stop inflating too. Some are obviously faulty machines.

Blimey!i guess it was put on too tight. You did the right thing taking it off.

As an aside I opened this page as I wanted to know what a 'cuffpic' was Blush
